What are Cookies

In accordance with the Regulation of Electronic Communications and Postal Services Law 112(I)/2004 all users of Microsites with cookies must be informed that the Microsite contains cookies, the types of cookies and the purpose for which cookies are used. The placement of cookies on the users’ devices requires in almost all cases the users’ prior explicit and active consent.

Cookies are very small text files containing very small amounts of information which are placed and stored on your computer/mobile device when you visit the Sophia for Children Microsite (the “Microsite”) to provide you with access to various functions of the Microsite and track your browsing activity in the Microsite. Cookies are sent back to the Microsite on each of your subsequent visits to the Microsite and in this way, the Microsite remembers your actions and preferences (such as login code, language, font size and other display preferences) for a period of time, so you do not have to re-enter these preferences every time you visit the Microsite or you browse from one page to another. Cookies also help customize your browsing experience.

Not all cookies contain personal information but where they do (when they are used to identify the users), we will treat this information as personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, where you can find more information on how we process your personal data, including personal data collected through cookies, how you can execute your data protection rights and the contact details of our data protection officer.

Categories of Cookies

Cookies are categorized in groups by identifying some of their properties. In general, there are three different ways to classify cookies depending on (a) their provenance, (b) their duration and (b) what purpose they serve.

A. Provenance

First Party Cookies are placed on your device directly by the Microsite.

Third Party Cookies may be placed on your device not by the Microsite but by a third party on our behalf, such as an advertiser or analytic system. We do not have access to or control over cookies or other features that advertisers and third party sites may use. The information practices of these third parties are not covered by our Privacy Policy or Cookie Policy. Please contact them directly for more information about their privacy practices.

B. Duration

Session cookies are temporary and expire once you close your browser (or once the session ends).

Persistent cookies are cookies that remain on your hard drive until you erase them or your device does, depending on the cookie’s expiration date. All persistent cookies have an expiration date written into their code, but their duration can vary.

c. Purpose

Strictly Necessary Cookies are essential for the functionality of the  Website or responding to requests made by you. We do not need to obtain your consent.

Functional Cookies enable the Website to store data that has already been entered (e.g. user names, configurations, language settings) and to offer you enhanced, more personalized features. We need to obtain your consent.

Performance Cookies are used to make the Website more user-friendly and therefore to improve your experience by analyzing your behavior while browsing the Website. They are also used in connection with user tracking. These are persistent cookies and almost always of third-party provenance. We need to obtain your consent.

Marketing/Analytics Cookies are used to offer content that is more relevant to you and tailored to your interests. These are persistent cookies and almost always of third-party provenance. We need to obtain your consent.
